Don’t Be Precious — Written Out Loud

Written by Joe Skoff | October 21, 2022

It’s only natural to be precious with our writing because we’ve worked for it. We’ve put the mental strain in, believed in our ideas, and experienced the joy of creation! Shouldn’t we defend what we’ve cared for, what we adore, and take its side instinctually?

No.

Words on a page aren’t baby lambs or bonsai trees. They’re strands of DNA in our story, each strand removable, replaceable if we recognize it as a mutation.

When we stop viewing our laptops as sacred temples and our work as our divine creations, we tend to write more.
