The 2022 East Windsor Ceremony

This May, we had four book ceremonies that all took place in one day at four different schools in East Windsor, NJ. Josh visited the students who went through our program this winter and handed them copies of the books they wrote in their creative teams, coronating them as published authors.

This is the joy that comes with collaborative effort. Yes, it was fun, and yes, probably more than one parent had to close the door because the laughs were distracting the whole house, but it also wasn’t easy. Negotiating story ideas, compromising, getting the word count–writing a story isn’t all fun and games. There are moments of doubt, backtracking on well-laid story paths, that all-consuming, ever-present backyard bully we call writer’s block.

But they did it anyway.

Congratulations to the kids of East Windsor! Welcome to the literary world.
